Data-Driven Architectural Intelligence for Health and Care Environments

Algorithmic evaluation, targeted planning and healthy architecture

We holistically optimize the architecture of healthcare facilities and create spaces that demonstrably support the health and well-being of patients and staff in line with the latest industry benchmarks and scientific standards.

Our algorithmic assessment software for architectural variables is designed to measurably analyze complex impact mechanisms on health-related criteria through high computational performance. Based on these data, we provide end-to-end support from analysis and architectural planning through to construction implementation.

Context-Aware Evaluation Algorithm as the Basis for Architectural Planning and Implementation

Fact & Feeling operates with a modular, specialized structure and assessment logic designed for different types of facilities, such as hospitals and care homes.

The assessment, as well as the subsequent planning and construction implementation, is carried out at a differentiated, area-specific level, for example for care units, residential areas, or therapy zones, and is tailored to the respective usage profiles and architectural requirements.

Functions and Features

The functions and features are designed around a structured and data-driven assessment to establish a targeted foundation and a reliable baseline for architectural planning and construction implementation.

The assessment is based on the linkage of a classified, multi-layered structure of architectural variables on one side and defined health and care outcomes on the other side.

The architectural variables capture a wide range of factors, from spatial geometry and materiality to lighting, acoustics, and usage. The health and care outcomes structure criteria across the domains of physical health, psychological well-being, and performance, along with their respective subcategories.

The assessment considers both direct and indirect impact pathways between architectural variables (AV) and health outcomes (HO). Individual AVs may act directly on an HO, while other effects emerge through intermediate steps, such as chains like AV1 → AV2 → HO or AV1 → HO1 → HO2.

These linear and non-linear pathways are systematically captured so that combined and amplifying effects of multiple influencing factors are integrated into the assessment logic.

Through integrated root-cause and gap analyses, the system provides an objective decision-making basis for any optimization. It identifies deviations and gaps between the current state and defined scientific target values, enabling the derivation of targeted architectural measures to improve well-being and functional efficiency.

The system combines precise mathematical indicators with in-depth root-cause analyses. While the quantitative assessment measures the exact contribution of each variable to health outcomes, the qualitative analysis clarifies the underlying architectural and construction-related factors. This enables well-founded decisions for the targeted optimization of the healthcare facility.

Collected data are processed in real time and visualized in a user-friendly manner. The software presents environmental factors clearly in charts and statistics. Integrated analysis tools detect trends and anomalies, prioritize action areas, and ensure continuous monitoring of facility quality.

The analysis includes an automated comparison with established best-practice models in the healthcare sector. This positions the facility within its competitive environment, highlights relative strengths and weaknesses, and provides valuable reference points for quality-oriented optimization and competitiveness.

By applying advanced mathematical algorithms, the evaluation of architectural data is automated and highly precise. This eliminates manual sources of error, ensures consistent analysis across numerous factors, and significantly accelerates the assessment process. The result is valid, reliable data for well-founded decision-making.

The algorithms are continuously updated with the latest findings from healthcare architecture and evidence-based research. This keeps the interaction logic between space and health up to date and ensures that recommendations align with current scientific and industry standards.

Insight into the system demo

The Fact & Feeling software is a web-based platform accessible from anywhere, ensuring seamless integration into your existing workflow. It enables a structured assessment of the healthcare facility, leading to a sophisticated visualization of results through multiple analytical lenses.

Services and Workflow

Fact & Feeling offers three coordinated services — from assessment through architectural planning to construction implementation — and integrates them into a continuous process that can be flexibly commissioned individually or in combination.

Systematic Assessment and Analytical Condition Audit

Relevant input data are collected through planning documents, on-site inspections, and structured exchanges with stakeholders, software-based evaluated, and consolidated into an analytical report with results and prioritized action areas.

Architectural Planning for Optimization

The analysis results are translated into spatial, functional, and technical planning concepts, which are developed as design drawings, 3D models, and structured action plans for the targeted optimization of the facility.

Professional Construction Support and Quality Assurance

The implementation is professionally supported and systematically reviewed to ensure alignment between planning, execution, and defined quality and health criteria, with all steps documented for traceability.
